5 stages of nutek mobo grief
Ici B da 5 stages of nutek mobo grief :
    1. Denial: Hmm - POST was a bit slow ... Uh Oh hard crash during a freaking debian install? Oh its Fine, i just need to get the BIOS update from the mfr. Im sure the board will be rock solid & stable then, especially if I don't try to use any of its expansion slots or peripheral connectors
    2. Anger:  Tyan/Intel/Supermicro/Asus i hAt u so much, i curse u, ur children, & ur childrens children! You bastards have sold me yet another flakey mobo that only works when the cockerel crows thrice.
    3. Bargaining: How about some new DIMMS? a bigger case? I'll throw in a 2000 watt powersupply, a 3lb pure copper heatsink and a Finnish engineered liquid cooling system! How about a free trip to Vegas with happy ending?
    4. Depression: This POS mobo will never work and it enjoys taunting me. Theres no point in going on ... ill just sit here and wilt (sob)
    5. Acceptance: OK, so Tyan/Supermicro/Asus/Intel/ freaking _Foxconn_ all snck and they sell garbage - at least my Mac is still working ... Oh CRAP, frowny face!? steve, did u sell out, too? Wait, who did you contract to handle ur manufacturing? ur kidding, right?
i need a drink (sob sob quiver sob)).

she's a junker, but she rolls real schweet ;-).
I need to add new bar tape (baby blue?), lights,
then I will put on a sugino XD600, a new cassette. and a nicer stem & seat tube (maybe a new seat?).
this bike is just for rolling around town and riding the gravel roads up in the Wiss ... basically a cheap verson of the Scott SUB.

back in the saddle again 8^)
OK - so this weekend wasn't so bad - I spent basically the whole time on the bike.
On Saturday I took out the full-sus, rode up to Wissahickon and hike-a-biked for a while ... I rode as much as I could on the single track, but the steep inclines really kicked my butt. Oh yeah - on the ride out there I stopped at A-Plus for some enerjuice and ended up helping out this fixie guy who had a flat. Luckily I had my pump and some patches, so it was sorted pretty quickly. His bike was pretty cool - I think it was a motobecane frame. Anyways - after fixing the flat he took off to CC and I rode out to Valley Green. The weather was _awesome_!!! There were lots of ducks at Valley Green, as usual. On the way back, I veered off of FD up the ridge to the single track. The first climb made my lungs burn so bad. I rode the ST for a while, got passed by some hardcore XC riders, and at one point I went up this little rise and ended up next to Henry Ave - I could see the big TV antennas from there. Anyways, I went back down a steep DH section that spilled me out by the dam north of Valley Green. Then I rode back home.

On Sunday I rode out to Belmont Plateau on the hardtail. That was alot of fun, too - I made a wrong turn at first and ended up over by the Japanese House - then I went back across Montgomery and landed in the middle of a BBQ/revival/motorcycle expo(!) - I rode across the softball fields and finally found the fire road. From there on, it was awesome! Lots of cool trails back there - I saw a couple of other bikers and about three people on horses. After playing around there for a while, I got back on West River Drive and rode back up to Wissahickon for a while ...

SO - all in all it went well. I need to put a new bottom bracket on the hardtail, and the front hub needs to be serviced ...

OK - that's all for now.

I wish that I could have stayed longer, but I neede to get back to LDC for a meeting right after lunch.

Anyways, I tried to scan from the negative and then cropped it to a square. I kind of like it - there's some rythm with the flags and the chopper, and the patches of sky are nice, i guess. i can't tell if it's neat, or if i'm seeing something that isn't there ... anyhoo ... maybe i'll adjust the colors so that it's peasoup green ;-).

this was a fun day - we went out for brunch and then explored OC for a while. A nice "Spring In December" shot ;-).

i'm in bed in my bedroom - it is dark. a man, an intruder is in the bedroom, coming towards my bed slowly. he is breathing/pulsing slowly and he is angry. he is scowling

the man is right at my bed. i am laying on my side, trying to get up to defend
myself, but i can't move. i am trying to scream, but my mouth is pressed into the bed. the man is coming closer, raising up by the bed. i am keening/screaming into the bed.

    -wake up in a panic-

the next morning when i tried to figure out what this dream was about, i thought about the trap door. i looked into the trapdoor and turned on the light.
melli was crouched in this half-height room, crying and scrunched in a ball. i took her hand and helped her come out of the room. she smiled and laughed. her face was sunny and surrounded by flower petals. she was smiling and happy as she walked away over a sunny field.

THe first couple of days were devoted to business, and then the rest of the time was available for site-seeing. I went to Macau on Thursday and then on Friday I went out to Lantau Island by MTR (by myself!!!) to visit the Po Lin Buddhist monastery. The Buddha statue is really big!!! Impressive - I was awestruck ;-).

I took a bunch of pics on the trip, some of which are online now - the Macau pictures are going to go up tomorrow. The coolest thing about Macau? No stop signs! (or stop lights, either!)

OK - that's all for now.

    is it kinking in?
OK - so this is day 1 2 3 ... 14! SO - two weeks ... the side effects are basically gone (still a tiny bit of nausea in the afternoon), and my concentration is way up. I got up and exercised this morning, which was cool ... T & W of last week were crazy - I was high as a kite. Then R, F, and S were awful - it felt like the dark days of _Middle_School_ - all melodrama and weepy angst. Now I feel more evened out.

SO - one of my projects is to expand the SH suggestions that I came up with back in February. Linda mentioned tying in tying in sensory images, metaphors, more specific details ... Maybe some pictures from the neighborhood?

I have been having weird dreams about forgetting my car - or trying to drive it after it's been parked for weeks or months ... I had one last night - the gears weren't shifting right, and I kept trying to parallel park, but I couldn't get up to the curb ...

anyhoo - IRL my baby is fine ;-).
